In mid-April 2016 we attended the 13th Pollença Fira del Vi. We’ve been to every edition of this weekend wine fair in the north of Mallorca since we moved here in 2004. It’s held in the atmospheric Sant Domingo cloister in the town – the perfect venue for the 38 island wineries that attended last weekend to offer tastings. Visiting this fair is one of the best ways to get to know the wines and native grapes of Mallorca, and to meet the winemakers.
The organisers of this event, La Associacio de Vi Primitiu, have already announced the dates for the 14th edition in 2017: May 6th and 7th.
But you don’t have to wait almost a year to taste a number of Mallorcan bodegas’ wines in one spot. The following are coming soon:
Petits Cellers Mallorca has their annual Nit del Vi (the 9th edition) in Palma on May 6th.
Felanitx has a wine tasting event during the May Fair, on May 6th and 7th.
DO Binissalem has its 2016 edition of Wine Days Mallorca event from May 14th-22nd. Their programme – packed with interesting wine-related events – can be seen on their website. Below is a video of Wine Days Mallorca 2015 to give you a flavour of what to expect.
And, finally, Manacor Spring Fair includes a wine tasting event (in the town’s cloister) on June 4th.
